San Diego’s Best Summer Dining For The Summer Solstice

Summer in San Diego officially starts next Monday, June 19th and as restaurants, bars, and wineries are in the process of officially fully reopening, we are looking forward to some of the city’s best dining throughout the season!

Fig Tree Cafe’s menu is full of tasty summer dishes, including a light and refreshing Shrimp & Mango Salad. Visit either of Fig Tree’s locations – Pacific Beach or Liberty Station – to enjoy the combination of savory shrimp, mixed greens, avocado, red bell pepper, shaved coconut, and a citrus-cilantro dressing. Pair with the Blackberry Bliss cocktail, made of vodka, sparkling, blackberries, and mint, for the ultimate summer lunch!

If wine and cheese sounds like your ideal way to celebrate summer, stop by Cork & Knife to check out their selection of summer sips. Try the Prosecco Tasi, a sparkling wine that is tropical and incredibly aromatic, showing bold notes of gardenia, lychee, ripe mango, and pineapple. Goat cheese is a great option for warm weather, and Cork & Knife’s Escondido and Rancho Santa Fe locations both offer Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog Grande, an elegant goat milk cheese with a subtle tangy flavor. Cork & Knife also features rotating seasonal tapas, along with white wines and rosés that are perfect for summer.

Chef Atomic, from Mavericks Beach Club, has recently added some new menu items that highlight the Baja-inspired fresh bites available at the PB hangout. If you’re looking to snack, opt to try the Ceviche, made with mahi mahi, shrimp, cucumber, salsa fresca, avocado, and wonton chips. The Poke Bowl, which consists of ahi tuna, white rice, wakame seaweed salad, red daikon radish, furikake, crispy garlic, wonton chips, avocado, sesame seed, and micro greens, served with citrus ponzu and wasabi aioli, is another favorite!

Grater Greens, in Mission Valley, believes that eating fresh, health, and wholesome food is an important part of a well-balanced life. Along with build your own salad or grain bowl options, Grater Greens also offers pre-made salad creations, which can also be made into tasty wraps! Their summer specials include the Sunny Quinoa Bowl, with mesclun greens, quinoa, curry cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, sliced pepperoncini, almond, feta and a cilantro avocado dressing.

If peaches are one of your favorite summer treats, you’ll want to try the Peach & Almond French Toast at Breakfast Company in the Gaslamp. Topped with sweet butter sauce, toasted almonds, and fresh peaches, this decadent breakfast dish is a great way to kick off the season. Enjoy with a glass of Breakfast Company Prosecco, loaded with notes of green apple, pear, brioche toast and roasted almonds.Boar’s Head Meat & Cheese
