3 Tips for Fitness While Traveling to San Diego

Whether you have been working hard towards a fitness goal for weeks, or relying on the “quarantine/covid” excuse for far too long, utilizing travel wellness on your next trip to San Diego can be the perfect way to elevate your results or jumpstart a new routine and work towards a better you! Here are a few tips that have allowed me to get my workout in while on the go.

  1. Set Reasonable Expectations: You are in a new environment with limited resources at your disposal. Instead of worrying about how many calories you burn, miles you run, or reps you get, enjoy the process and use it as a way to start a new habit or maintain a current one. Any movement or exercise is better than none.

  2. Focus on Weak Points: We all have exercises or muscle groups that we neglect. Whether it is because we are nervous to try something new or simply because we are avoiding a weak point on our body. Use the hotel gym and mirror to work on form while utilizing very low weight. If you do not have a gym at your disposal, a mindful walk focusing on your breath is just as impactful.

  3. Switch it up! Whether you are going to the hotel gym or opting for a power walk on Del Mar beach, you’ll want to confuse your body to help make the most of your time and jumpstart results. We all get stuck in certain routines, use this as an opportunity to break out of your current fitness mindset and try something new. Here are a few ideas to switch it up:

    • Beach power walk/run

    • Scenic hike (Torrey Pines is a great option)

    • Swim in the ocean or pool

Traveling can be the perfect time to jumpstart, maintain, or enhance your current wellness routine. Utilize other hotel amenities such complimentary coffee and breakfast or nutritious packed options at the deli to compliment your fitness on the go in San Diego.
